Weekly Watch Focus: Pray for Syria

FRIDAY, June 8, 2012. In the last year, more than 5,000 civilians have been killed in Syria during the so called “Arab Spring” uprising. Syria is a neighbor of Israel and is 10% Christian. Many of the dead have been children. Ethnic cleansing by al-Qaeda terrorists has resulted in 90% of Christians in the city of Homs being forced to flee. In the past, Christians have been a protected minority in Syria. But if the Muslim Brotherhood takes over, things may change drastically. Pray for peace in Syria. Pray for protection for the civilian population and a special covering of God’s Presence over our Christian brothers and sisters in Syria.

Ps. 91:1-4, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”

Prov. 18:10, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

Is. 49:25 "But thus says the Lord: 'Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible be delivered; for I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children.'"

Ps. 2:8, "Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession."
