Weekly Watch Focus: Peace for Israel

FRIDAY, MAY 20, 2011. Earlier this week, in coordinated attacks, thousands of demonstrators tried to rush through Israel’s borders on the day Palestinians mourn the anniversary of Israel’s statehood, called Nakba, or day of disaster in Arabic.

Hamas Prime Minister asked followers to “Pray for the end of Israel.” The Muslim Brotherhood is rising in strength across the Middle East, and seems to be committed to annihilating Israel. Iran is also spreading more influence and making more alliances with neighboring nations to destroy Israel.

Let us stand in the gap and pray for protection for this small nation which is so important in the heart of our Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We know as we pray that God will shield Israel because He calls it the apple of His eye. Let us freshly commit ourselves to daily prayer for the peace of Jerusalem, and release angels to stand guard at the borders of Israel. May
those who plan terror and destruction against Jews and against Jerusalem be confused and completely defeated.

Psalm 122, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May they proper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces.'”

Ps. 102:13, “You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for the time to favor her, yes, the set time, has come.”

Zech. 14:8-16; Is. 62:6-7
