Weekly Watch Focus: Celebrate Pentecost

Friday, May 29, 2020—Today marks the beginning of the Feast of Pentecost (Shavuot) on the Hebrew calendar. As Jews and Christians celebrate this feast, we rejoice in the fulfillment of Shavuot when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost. We pray that the same mighty wind that swept through Jerusalem in the first century would come and sweep across the whole world once again. May the “whole earth be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14). More than ever before, we feel the Lord’s grace on this Passover and Pentecost window. Let us pray for a fresh Pentecostal revival with signs, wonders, and miracles that will impact every person in the world. With one voice we cry out, “Welcome, precious Holy Spirit! In Your mercy, empower us so we can proclaim the glory of the risen savior, Jesus Christ, to every soul on earth.” We also pray for a special blessing on Israel and the Jewish people who welcomed and stewarded the Word of God from Mt Sinai.

Acts 2:1-4, “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Acts 2:17-18, “And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.and on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.”

Lev. 23:15-16, “‘And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed. 16 Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord.”

Acts 10:44-46, “While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.”

Zechariah 10:1, “Ask rain from the LORD in the season of the spring rain, from the LORD who makes the storm clouds, and He will give them showers of rain, to everyone the vegetation in the field.”

Exodus 19:16,19, “On the morning of the third day there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud on the mountain and a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people in the camp trembled. Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God…The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.”
